3 reasons why people don’t save the stories of loved ones

Here are 3 of the main reasons I hear:

1. They leave it too late.
2. They think it’s too hard to do.
3. Their loved one won’t open up to share the real gold with them.

This is why I recommend that you work with a third party (that’s me!) to capture the true essence and personality of your loved one with video (and we can work either online or in person).

People often open up more with someone outside of the family, and this results in a personal documentary with emotive content and great stories and memories to pass on to future generations.

Real life examples

For example, I worked with a 90 year old man who had already written his life story in great factual detail for his kids and grandkids.

However, when we did a video interview there were many things he shared that they’d never heard before, and his personality and life values shone through. We were also able to include clips from Scottish Country dancing events where he danced with his much loved wife who passed a few years earlier.

In the video linked below, another client shared his love of playing guitar and singing in his life story video which was such a beautiful gift to his family. There was not a dry eye in the room when this was viewed.

Another plus for creating a life story video is that the younger generations are more likely to watch video than read pages of written material.

The human brain processes visuals 60,000 times faster than text, so there’s good reasons for this visual preference of our younger generation.

So who will save your parents’ or grandparents’ stories?

Let me connect with them, get to know them via a Zoom call planning session, and then extract the gold in a beautiful life story documentary that will mean the world to future generations.

Those future generations will get to know the great grandparents they never met. How cool is that?
